JAY CHAUDHRY
Founder & Chairman, Air2Web

Jay Chaudhry is a seasoned entrepreneur and experienced technology executive with a track record of success. Chaudhry's background includes nearly 25 years of sales, marketing and engineering experience from leading companies such as IBM, NCR and Unisys and the successful launch of several technology companies.

Most recently, Chaudhry founded CipherTrust in March 2000, creating the industry’s first email gateway security appliance. Under his leadership, CipherTrust grew from a pioneering start-up to the market leader in messaging security, and was named by IDC as the largest vendor in secure content management appliances and in messaging security appliances. Keeping the tradition of innovation, Chaudhry and his team expanded CipherTrust offerings to address inbound and outbound messaging threats across multiple communication channels, including email, instant messaging and Web-based communication - leading to the successful merger with Secure Computing in September 2006 to create the leader in enterprise gateway security.

Chaudhry has proven himself to be an innovator and trendsetter by spearheading numerous initiatives to improve the overall posture of the security industry. In 1997 Chaudhry founded SecureIT, the first pure-play Internet security services company that experienced exponential revenue growth. As a self-funded company, SecureIT was acquired by VeriSign in July 1998, where Chaudhry served as vice president and general manager of the Security Services Division. The experience at SecureIT and VeriSign during early stages of the security market provided Chaudhry a strong foundation to start a number of companies in new emerging markets.

Over the years, Chaudhry has been a founder, primary investor and/or chairman and CEO of several successful start-up technology companies. In 2002, he launched AirDefense, which pioneered the wireless LAN intrusion detection and prevention market and today serves more than 500 blue chip clients. In 2000, he launched CoreHarbor, the first ASP for e-procurement solutions, which was acquired by USi, the leading managed/hosted application provider. USi was acquired by AT& in October 2006. In 1999, he launched Air2Web, a developer of mobile Internet platform mobile marketing applications for enterprises and connects more than 500 carriers in 200 countries.

In 1995 Chaudhry joined IQ Software, a public company that specialized in database reporting tools as senior vice president of worldwide marketing. Previously, he was vice president of sales and marketing for Software Products Division at Unisys. Prior to that, he held various sales and marketing management positions at NCR and IBM. Chaudhry began his career in software development and systems integration.

Chaudhry is considered an industry thought leader in cyber-security and has been honored for his entrepreneurial leadership and management success by numerous organizations. He was honored as Entrepreneur of the Year in the Southeast and as a finalist for the US national by Ernst & Young. He was named an Innovator & Influencer by Information Week magazine, and “Who’s Who” by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. He was honored as Entrepreneur of the Year awards from Catalyst magazine, and is a winner of Atlanta’s “Top 50 Names to Know” many times. In addition to the personal honors achieved by Chaudhry, the companies he founded have been recognized for their innovation and leadership, including the following: Red Herring magazine named Air2Web, AirDefense and CipherTrust to the Red Herring 100; Red Herring magazine named CipherTrust as a Top 10 Private Security Company; and the Atlanta Business Chronicle named both AirDefense and CipherTrust to the Pacesetters list as two of the fastest growing private companies in the Southeast.

Chaudhry serves on the board of directors for the Technology Association of Georgia, AirDefense and Air2Web. He is founding president of TiE Atlanta and has been on the Board of Trustees of global TiE, a non-profit global organization dedicated to promote entrepreneurship. Additionally, Chaudhry and his wife Jyoti support charitable educational and healthcare initiatives in rural India.
